THE TEAPOTS: an ongoing and changing collection of contemporary teapots in the gallery and online is presented along with regular survey "shows" of teapots that take place at museums and galleries throughout the country. For the teapot collector or for those who enjoy this way of viewing a survey of contemporary studio pottery, we continually present the work of artists, designers and potters for sale - online. While most are functional, some stretch the limits by exploring the conceptual aspect of the form.
LESLIE FERRIN is the author of Teapots Transformed: Exploration of an Object, published in 2000, by GUILD Publishing. "Teapots are complex objects steeped in world culture and art history. Their appeal - conjuring images of afternoons in homey tearooms or elegant gatherings in grand hotels - is universal. But a new generation of teapots has stood tradition on its ear: As author Leslie Ferrin says, "Today the teapot has one foot in the kitchen and the other in the art world." Teapots Transformed: Exploration of an Object, tells the tale of this art form from the traditional, functional teapot to an eclecticmix of contemporary designs. The exhilarating collection is presented in more than 120 vivid full-color photographs. The book will delight tea drinkers from around the world, while providing inspiration for artists and a visual feast for the growing number of teapot collectors."
