Gallery owner and curator Leslie Ferrin teamed up with restaurateur and culture maven Daniel Osman to select original prints for exhibition from the Flat Files at Zea Mays Printmaking. The Flat Files house over 400 prints by member artists of this internationally recognized green print studio. The program began in the summer of 2010 with four exhibitions in the Loo Galleries at both the Dream Away Lodge and Ferrin Gallery. We kicked off the Loo series with shows of prints by Liz Chalfin (etchings), Lilly Periera (photo-intaglio), Sarah Creighton (monotypes) and Annie Bissett (Japanese woodblock). 2011 will showcase the work of Lynn Peterfreund (monoprint and etching), Maya Malachowski Bajak (etching) and Mark Zunino (monoprint and etching). Each exhibition opens with a dinner/reception at the Dream Away Lodge. The Loo Gallery at Dream Away Lodge The Loo Gallery is an offbeat gallery space in the large and comfortable Handicapped Loo at Dream Away Lodge. Named in homage to New York gallery owner Gracie Mansion's famous East Village Loo Gallery of the 1980's, the Loo features small works by established and emerging artists from all over the country. An intimate and personal space in which to experience art. The Dream Away Lodge has been a Berkshire legend for more than 90 years. Rumored to have been a brothel and speakeasy during the great depression, this two hundred year old farmhouse at the edge of October Mountain State Forest is renown for its larger than life founders, Mamma Maria Frasca and her three musical daughters, and a colorful history, rich in music and local mythology. Since the lodge's purchase by former actor and theater maker Daniel Osman in 1997, the lodge's legend has been rather spectacularly reborn. Part restaurant, part bar, part music venue and all theater, the Dream Away features locally grown and sourced food, an imaginative and affordable menu in its own inimitable style.
Ferrin Gallery, established 1979, is nationally known as a contemporary gallery specializing in figural sculpture and studio ceramics. The gallery works closely with private collectors, institutions and the media as a source for works by both established and emerging artists. Located in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, it is equidistant from New York City and Boston. |
